How it came to be

The history of Father's Day dates back to 1909, in Spokane, Washington. Sonora Smart Dodd was listening to a Mother's Day sermon, at the Central Methodist Episcopal Church. The lecture inspired her to have a special day dedicated to her father, William Jackson Smart, who had brought her up and her siblings, single-handedly, after their mother died.Sonora could realize the greatness of her father and wanted to let him know how deeply she was touched by his sacrifices, courage, selflessness and love. To pay a tribute to her great dad, Sonora held the first Father's Day celebration on 19th of June 1910, on the birthday of her father. However, unlike Mother's Day, which was readily accepted, Father's Day was received with mockery and hilarity by most. Unfortunately, it was only sporadically celebrated until is was nationally recognized sixty two years later by President Richard Nixon, establishing it on the third Sunday of June, as a permanent national observance of Father's Day in 1972.

Constance from Aravensvoice
Hello Fellow Artisans-Crafters and Designers! My name is Constance (Cz) and I have been a multi-medium Artist-Designer for 30+ years. I have not sold professionally since I was about 15 years old. During my younger years, I used to design ads for the Yellow Page phonebook and what a job that was. We did not have computers then and I had to do everything by hand and I was lucky if I made minimum wage per ad. Now, I solely create for charity and this has been my life long dream. A couple of the items I am working on now is Chandeliers made from tin cans and Deco lighting made from old glass bottles; so please keep checking my website for new products. Displayed now are jewelry items, stain glass, and hand painted French goose eggs. My favorite pass time is using recycled materials and turning them into new ideas; so my husband shakes his head every time he has to save tin cans, milk jugs, glass and Styrofoam because I have boxes full... but with the rise in costs of products, I foresee these items to be valuable and possibly worth money as pop bottles are today. I want to tell you, I have really enjoyed working with the GLC Arts and Crafts Online Mall staff. The staff has been so helpful and they are always willing to listen if you have any new ideas too. In the past I was lucky if anyone would helped me with the websites I purchased... the web designers would promise you the sky until they received your money... and believe me, I have thrown a lot of money away, but thanks to GLC Arts and Crafts Online Mall the costs are at a minimum, so you can concentrate on making your products.

| Pastiche Art |
|
Dad will Love it
Pastiche Art was born out of Brent's love for old wood window frames (he views them as works of art in themselves, with their own hidden stories to tell), and the wide world of graphic, visual art. He describes the process as a matchmaking dance that finds and marries wood window frames with evocative, complementary prints. Focused care is given to bring out and maintain the character of each frame while at the same time adapting it to a particular work of art. The end result is a unique "pastiche" (a work of art combined from various sources). He derives satisfaction when the finished product draws the viewer in giving you a three dimensional sense of looking out a window into an actual scene. Some prints may be used in more that one frame, but each frames originality ensures that the end product will never be the same. Pastiche Art is proud to be part off the value added effort to wisely re-use our natural resources.
* Quality hand workmanship
* Free quotations for custom work and special commissions.
* Will gladly work with your photos, images and frames.
* Friendly personal service from start to finish.
* Environmentally responsible, using only salvaged wood windows and recycled wood.
* Barn wood and fence wood is also used to create size specific custom frames.
Lacing Up " by Ken Danby
Artist Bio:
Ken Danby is one of only a few contemporary artists who have created paintings that make the transition from artwork to cultural icon. While the popularity of his work and his contributions to the arts make him a celebrity in Canada, it is his outstanding timeless images that have earned him international recognition as one of the foremost realist artists.
Where some see only an incredible attention to detail, others are aware of the artist's greater accomplishment... the presence, the life and the emotion which emanates from each meticulously composed image. Studying a Ken Danby painting is more than experiencing fine art. It is sharing in the artist's response to his own experience.

Man's Best Friend
As a pet owner and a canine groomer for many years, I have come to regard pets as an extension of ourselves. They have character, personality and expression, all of which deserve to be recorded.
It is a sad fact that our pets lives are shorter than ours but a momento of their time with us can be preserved in a pencil/charcoal portrait. For several years I have been sketching pets and have done commission work for many of my grooming clients. I have now decided to expand my Pet Portait bussiness and offer it to everyone. As I work from photographs provided by the client I feel my protraits have the feel of realism about them. Of couse the better the photo I have of your pet the better the sketch. The best photo is a nice close up of your pet.
I offer my sketches in many different sizes all of which can be discussed when you place your order.
This origial piece is done in indian ink, watercolor and colored pencil.

Like Father , Like Son
Living in Cloverdale, where the second largest rodeo in Canada is held, exposes me to the country life that is so dear to me and is what inspired this beautiful stained glass window panel.
Father and Son leaning on the split rail fence and looking out over the pasture sharing a moment before the days work starts.
This idyllic scene will tug at the heart strings of any and all country loving folks with that special father and son relationship.
This window I painstakingly created using only the finest glass, some of which is mouth blown / hand made. It is 10" wide by 16.5" long and comes ready to hang from a chain with a zinc outer border for strength. Please email me if you have any questions or if you would like something custom ordered.

For The Car Guy
Nighthawk Studios is a family operation that began in 2006 as an outlet for our creativity. We offer a full line of metal artwork, whether it be items we dreamed up or your ideas brought to life!! Most items are cut by CNC plasma from 16 gauge steel and then finished by our hands in our studio. We not only offer a UV Rated Powder Coat finish that is suitable for indoor and outdoor use but we also make use of metal waxes. These waxes are applied and then covered with a protective clear coat that allows the item to withstand the elements.
